COMPFEST Talks

As the main event of the COMPFEST 15 Main Event, COMPFEST Talks presented three main speakers with diverse backgrounds. The first speaker was Mr. Yakan Musthofa, the Head of Business Intelligence and Data Science at eFishery. The second speaker was Kak Farhan, an educational content creator known for his expertise in mathematics. The third speaker was Kak Raudah Sabila who is known as a professional recruiter. The lively COMPFEST Talks event was hosted by Ms. Nami Afra, a professional MC and Host. The topic of this seminar was “Skill Stack Essentials: Thriving and Surviving in Today’s Industry” which was attended and enlivened by many participants who had an interest in the industrial world.

The first session began by presenting topics related to the impact of technological developments on today’s industrial environment. According to Kak Bela, technology can help speed up the recruitment process with ATS software. Kak Farhan and Pak Yakan also talked about how technology offers significant opportunities for us to explore new learning and help in the job search process. The event continued with a cheerful ice breaking game session where participants engaged in guessing the picture.

Furthermore, Mr. Yakan emphasized that fresh graduates who are seeking employment must be able to demonstrate their abilities in a tangible way, so it is important to master hard skills and develop soft skills. Kak Farhan also encouraged participants to start enhancing their personal branding. The seminar session ended after the participants asked questions related to the topics discussed by the three speakers. Notably, one lucky participant who had the opportunity to receive a free curriculum vitae (CV) review from Kak Bela. The key message in writing a CV is to include our achievements and involvement in the experience. Wow, apart from adding new knowledge, you can also improve your CV! Very exciting, yes!

Interview Session

Following the COMPFEST Talks event, we seized the opportunity to conduct interviews with the three speakers.

The interview session began by interviewing Mr. Yakan. He advised that a fresh graduate should create a portfolio aligned with career goals while remaining adaptive to the environment. If you have different passions, he suggested finding a connection between them. For example, as a content creator producing content related to the IT field. However, unlike building a LinkedIn profile, prioritization according to career goals is essential. We also discussed how to survive in the industrial world. When entering the industrial world, hard skills are needed. Meanwhile, for long-term survival, soft skills are important. According to Mr. Yakan, the important thing is that in every task we carry out, we should consider the impact it will have so that it can be beneficial not only for the company or organization, but also for ourselves. Apart from that, in the industrial world, where not everything has been digitized, sometimes a human touch remains essential, as seen in areas like telesales. He also recommended joining a community where everyone can share their experiences and perspectives. Because, in the community we will meet people from various backgrounds so that we can find out perspectives from different backgrounds regarding a job. Mr. Yakan felt that the COMPFEST event was excellent and he appreciated it, because this event cares for both fresh graduates and friends who are about to graduate.

Next, we interviewed Kak Farhan, renowned as an educational content creator on social media. Kak Farhan said that to achieve success, we must start by instilling a pro-mindset in ourselves. Always focus and have high fighting power to keep trying. According to him, each person has their own space to develop, even an ability can be learned, not based on the talent they already have. Kak Farhan also shared a quote from a book entitled Atomic Habits, specifically “Results are a collection of processes” which means that if we cannot see the results, then the processes we have carried out are still lacking and we have to try harder. Kak Farhan felt that COMPFEST Talks was very exciting and interesting because he also gained new insights from other speakers.

In the last interview, we interviewed Raudah Sabila, familiarly known as Bela. Kak Bela explained that it is important to have a mindset that is willing to continue learning and capable of managing expectations. She also emphasized the importance of having an adventure with the various possibilities that exist and carrying out self-development in both hard and soft skills. As a first step, Kak Bela recommended expanding connections because it can provide new perspectives. She also suggested viewing problems as challenges, and advised against rushing to evaluate a situation. Kak Bela shared the words that are her guide in the industrial world, namely “Attitude”. According to her, it is important to always maintain commitment, deliver the best at work, and not be overly calculative. At the end of the interview, Kak Bela gave her impression and message about today’s Main Event. Sis Bela felt that the Compfest Main Event was quite exciting and provided good engagement with the audience, as well as having different perspectives from other speakers.
