Regulating the Poetic Economy
With its privileging of elitist avant-garde poetry, the unregulated poetic economy is clearly unfair to story-telling, rhyming, and formalist poets. Indeed, the rejection of storytelling in poetry further demonstrates a heteronormative, cis, white, male bias — those whose stories have already been told and popularized no longer need to tell their stories, while marginalized groups are still trying to tell theirs.
