My idea for a way finding technology for vision impaired users is based off Ross Atkin Associates’ Responsive Street Furniture and the findings of the paper, Mediating Artefacts in Architecture: A non-Visual Exploration by Vermeersch et. al.
The design will be placed in the foyer or reception area of a public building. It will give audio feedback and information to users upon request. This request may take place via an app, a touch of a tactile button, or touching a tactile building model. This request will be processed by a Particle photon (an arduino board that is connected to the internet), which produces the audio feedback. The user is then free to move to their required destination.
- Software to make the app
- 3D printed model(s)
- arduino/particle photon
