Version 3.0 (Genesis) Alpha was released last week to a small group of engineers who specialize in genetics research and crypto. Let’s see what they build with Computes!

Unlike previous versions of Computes (more info), V3 is 100% decentralized and distributed (and unstoppable)! We have introduced our very own IPFS DAG-based “blockless” ledger technology that is faster than blockchain, no wasted proof-of-work, and no storage requirements — so it runs everywhere!

Machines running Computes automatically start discovering each other and swarming together on a private (or public) mesh network. They immediately start advertising their operating system, MIPS, and idle capacity to the network. All Computes nodes can then start requesting and performing computations on behalf of the mesh computer.

Our decentralized task queue uses machine learning algorithms to match the right task to the right machine for processing. Computes knows how to manage serial machine learning algorithms as wells as massively parallel computations and back to serial.

Input and output files are managed by IPFS as well as our internode swarming and messaging. Computes computations can now be distributed in a peer-to-peer (P2P) fashion via small Docker containers allowing us to support any programming language or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) application like TensorFlow.

Here’s a short video of one of our sample genetics machine learning applications running on Computes V3.

As the feedback loop gets tighter on our Alpha release, we will slowly start releasing Computes to other developers on our waiting list. If you have not already signed up for our upcoming Beta release, please do so now at http://computes.com.
