Cloud, Fog, Edge computing. Brace yourself for the next computing wave — proximity computing!

Look around. Computers are everywhere. They are in every electronic device you can see and within sensors, you can’t see. For example, Raspberry Pi Zeros are now selling for only $5 and run a full Linux operating system with 40 input/output pins for controlling internet of things (IoT) sensors and actuators.

As you walk into a room, machines will acknowledge your presence and offer to collaborate with your personal electronics.

Proximity computing will consist of a mesh computer of interconnected computing resources whereby personal area networks (PAN) meets edge, fog, and cloud computing environments. Everything is connected and can communicate and message and compute in a peer-to-peer (P2P) fashion.

Gone will be the days of trying to figure out the best medium for sending a file to your colleague next to you or sending your video to the monitor near you or printing near you. Everything will finally collaborate and work as expected.

Imagine the impact of proximity computing and mesh computing on devices such as the Amazon Echo or Google Home. They will no longer need to make round trips to the cloud for speech processing. Your nearby computing resources will be enough power to assist these devices with running their natural language processing (NLP) within your PAN. Not only will devices compute faster locally but your security and privacy will make a giant leap forward.

Computes is leading the way to make proximity computing a reality as well as the entire mesh computing platform that will power this decentralized machine-to-machine economy. Our mesh computing technology is 100% decentralized and distributed. It’s powered by a next generation blockchain-like, DAG-based distributed ledger called Lattice.
