What factors do you consider when you decide to purchase a shirt? Hmm…Not too many, right? Now, what factors do you consider when you purchase a car? Hmm…it’ll certainly take you days or hours to figure it out.

But why this difference? It only depends on the things on which you are more dependent, are costly and that make your journey smooth and durable. So, suppose, if one has to hire an employee then what qualities should they have? What makes a candidate the ideal employee?

Continuing on this, during our selection process a candidate once asked

  • What is the most important quality an EIR should have?

Now, the time has come to unfold the suspense.

It’s a universal but not an exhaustive list but will surely give a hint about what it is that we are looking for in a candidate, no matter in what position.

  1. Problem Solver

You must have an attitude for solving problems whenever they arise. No matter what position you are in, the most fundamental thing you are going to do is to solve problems daily.

Because as long as we execute ideas and experiment with things to move to the next level, we are going to face problems all the time. So being a problem solver is a must and without it, there is little one may achieve.

2. Curious

Curiosity might have killed the cat but it discovered something hidden before. So always remain hungry to find out the undiscovered.

  • How can you make a task, process or system better?
  • What new ideas can you implement in your work for a breakthrough?
  • What questions do you need to ask yourself to enhance your knowledge and to solve problems?
  • What is missing and what is the best way to achieve something?

3. Fast Learner

There’s a lot to know but time is limited. So, every employer needs you to learn things quickly. This will not only help you but your teammates as well because if you’re slow your team’s work gets affected and eventually delays in meeting deadlines. In starting, whatever you do, it’ll be overwhelming but after giving it some time you have to be a fast learner.

Most of the people don’t know most of the things in life. Hence it’s not the memory that’s essential, it’s your ability to learn and figure things out quickly that matters.

4. Honest and open

Never hide anything if you have done something wrong. We all make mistakes. Also, never hold your opinion. If you think that particular advice or way of doing things is not quite right then speak up. Be open and frank, no need to be formal, at all. Because most people can only do one thing at a time, so it’s either solving challenging problems that you can do or to be a host to mere formalities. Not both.

Both honesty and openness are central values at Comunev. It’s better to be frank than to be deceptive. This company is built on mutual trust and that’s what we look for.

5. Critically Acceptive

You’ll not improve if you are not ready to listen about things you are bad at. Always be ready to accept other people’s advice If you are wrong somewhere. Same goes for the bosses in the company too.

When you listen to others you get to know how they think and why? Being open to criticism shows wisdom and long term thinking and brings varied perspectives to the table. We are not here to be ‘right’ in the short term but to be ‘right’ in the long term.

6. Decisive

What’s the point of coming up with ideas and never setting afoot to work on it? Your efforts will only get recognition when you can make decisions on an idea or a problem before it’s too late.

One that makes good decisions quickly and then goes on to complete them with full determination will be the one who will learn a lot of things quickly and with appreciation. So, you can say that lethargy has no place here.

7. Innovative/Creative

Ideas, ideas and more ideas. If you are doing something which someone else is already doing you will get the same result as them. So, where’s the difference?

Humans are known for their innovative minds. So, it’s you who needs to take advantage of that virtue. Always try to stand out of the crowd and come up with something unique.

We believe that you have a billion possibilities to do things which no one had thought before. Be creative. Never think that something won’t work as you never know what will work before you put it into action.

8. Integrity

Having your ethos and beliefs is necessary. They act as guiding lights. These are what you can call morals. When you are in a dilemma whether it’s the right thing to do or not, your ethos will guide you.

When we hire people, we trust them 100%, and we don’t break that trust. We don’t play games or do politics in smaller matters. We are here to change how society works, we are to work on ideas no one ever thought of before and that cannot be done without complete trust.

Trust is fickle in society, and breaking the trust of many people brings impending doom. A company is the average of the trust between its people.

9. Initiative

Don’t wait. Don’t procrastinate. Whatever comes into your mind, speak it up. Don’t think that someone else would do it for you. Take initiative and who knows you may be rewarded for your extraordinary efforts.

Here, you will be given the freedom to work on your ideas. So, we believe that you won’t become someone who will wait to take orders first. If you need orders or tasks from bosses to move you, you would hate this company.

There are lots of other qualities that we consider but these are the ones that define the right candidate for us.
