Intelligence and Learning

Intelligence is about nothing but learning. An intelligent person is a person who knows how to learn. Any intelligence, even that that looks suited to problem-solving, it’s just a learning process. We don’t solve problems, we learn to solve them. A problem is always a learning challenge.

Artificial intelligence was, for a long time, a mere tour de force in computation, a powerful ars combinatoria — database as information and process as an algorithm. But today, we don’t talk about deep artificial intelligence. We talk about deep learning — observation, imitation, improving, decisions — because it’s clear that an intelligent system is a system that learns.

Avoid being more intelligent. Learn to learn.
