GTU is now CCD!

We are excited to announce that our native token will be called $CCD, starting today!

The name of the Concordium native currency has changed from “GTU” to “CCD”.

The new name is an abbreviation of Concordium, with each letter representing the first letter in the three parts of the word Con+Cor+Dium. The pronunciation is /Cee Cee Dee/.

The symbol for our CCD is the “Greek Capital Dotted Lunate Sigma Symbol”, number 1022 in the unicode list: Ͼ.

The idea to have a new token-name that is also promoting the Blockchain name has been inspired by input from the Concordium community. We wish to thank you for this. We have decided for a name and a ticker that are easier to recognize, remember and pronounce. It will also ease our marketing efforts and the promotion of the “Concordium” brand in a much more effective and impactful way.

Implementing and deploying the new name will begin immediately, and the updating of our wallets, websites, and technical documentation will be gradually completed.

We are now closer to the public listing of $CCD, and as we shift gears to launch, there will be exciting opportunities for the community to get involved. Stay tuned and read on!

What is $CCD anyways?

$CCD is the payment token of the Concordium Platform and the medium of payment and incentivization that ensures network participants are rewarded for their efforts.

$CCD can be used for a variety of purposes, including payment for the execution of smart contracts, payment via transactions between users, etc.

As Concordium develops, and builders begin to leverage its unique capabilities, we will see many more use cases and functionalities of $CCD being unlocked!
