Live broadcasting is becoming a huge new way to connect brands, businesses, and personalities with their followers and fans.

The ability to share live events and news in real-time is a great way to keep you front and centre with your audience. Meerkat and Periscope are two fantastic platforms that make this possible, this graphic covers some of the important basics behind both, along with their impressive metrics.

Meerkat and Periscope were both introduced within the past year, and were adopted quickly by millions of users. With over 2.2 million users on Meerkat, and 10 million users on Periscope, there’s a huge audience to reach. 39 percent of broadcasters use Meerkat, 57 percent use Periscope, and 4 percent use both platforms. While it’s not clear which is better for certain types of businesses, live broadcasting is a valuable tool for engagement.

But before jumping on a stream, it’s important to know how to use the platform you choose, and this graphic has some useful tips to know before beginning your first broadcast. Additionally, you’ll find some very important differences between the two platforms in order to help you choose which is better for your needs.

Live streaming is perfect for sharing news, events, sales, and Q&A sessions, and is an important part of a social media strategy.
