Application
Hello Readers!
Today, I scheduled an interview for a program that I would very much like to be accepted to. Because this interview is high stakes for me, I am quite nervous, as one would expect me to be.
However, upon my continued exploration into self-confidence, I have made the executive decision to put what I’ve learned to use, rather than spending the entire week stressing about the interview.
The following tips and pointers that I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts are the tips I am going to really strive to incorporate into my life for the week prior to my interview:
· Arriving Early: My interview is on a Tuesday at 2:00pm, so I plan to arrive to the location at least 15 to 20 minutes before then.
· Dressing to Impress: As I mentioned in a previous post, I recently purchased a new blazer to wear for important events. I plan to wear this blazer to the interview, because dressing nicely will give me a little bit of a confidence boost beforehand.
· Organized: I plan to have any and all materials needed for the interview ready to go the night before, so that I am not running around looking for anything beforehand; doing so will ensure that I am not flustered.
· Prepared: I intend to practice my interviewing skills with either a parent or a friend before the day of the interview. Preparing in this way will help me to feel confident in my abilities heading into the interview.
I recently read another blog post, entitled, “4 Good Reasons Why You Should be Confident”. Within this post, the author makes the point that oftentimes, successful people are successful because they dare to try. Those that have confidence in themselves are more likely to try new things, leading them towards success. You cannot be successful if you never try, and confidence can lead you to try.
Applying and interviewing for this program is outside of my comfort zone, but hopefully the utilization of the confidence building tips and skills I’ve learned will help me be successful.
Wish me good luck!
