Hey, world!
This time we asked a few questions to someone from our Frontend team — Evgenii!

Who are you?

My name is Evgeniy, I’m a Front-End Developer from Berlin. I graduated in Computer Science as a software engineer, but for a long time, was working in Sr. QA Automation (mostly with Java & Groovy). I got to know blockchain in 2018 when I attended topic-related meetups in Berlin. I wrote my first smart contract in 2019 when I took an Ethereum Developer Course at the B9lab Academy (check out my code here). A little later, when I became a permanent resident, I began my transformation from Sr. QA Automation to Frontend Developer, which I still do.

As for the hobby, I can say that in the beginning, I did not have enough time for such an activity. Now my kids have grown up, and I enjoy jogging, biking, and going to the gym (You can follow him on Strava. I like to spend time chatting with my friend who is in the process of learning Go. We have created our collective YouTube channel called Telegramtok and many other projects.

What do you do in Confio?

I was hired as a Junior Frontend to work on Tgrade to build a secure, regulatory-friendly, decentralized finance platform.
My tasks mostly consist of writing tests, but I hope front-end tasks will soon be part of my daily routine as well.

Could you describe what your work is like at Confio?

I have been working full-time, remotely since it became possible after Covid. My work style has not changed much. As we all learned in 2020, the only thing I started adding recently is open-air exercises. Just to be clear, I am still following standard daily working hours, so burning the midnight oil for me.
My wife still complains that I am spending too much time in front of my machine.

What have you learned with Confio?

Well, I have learned what Proof of Engagement consensus is.
I can’t say that our Front End framework somehow surprised me, no, but it has its own features, different from ones in e-commerce.

The main thing that I discovered for myself is CosmWasm & Cosmos ecosystem. It is a very popular ecosystem in the world of blockchain, and I highly recommend following its development in the news or utilizing its features of it in your code.

What do you like about working at Confio in General?

I like this company because the company is self-sufficient enough not to chase customers. The clients are attracted by Confio’s actual value and what it does for them.

We have a two-week sprint planning, like all other companies, but we treat our team well and do not let them burn out. :)

This is my first job in the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain; even though I have already met people from this area of expertise before, I’ve never been in such close contact with crypto specialists. Every day I spend with the company is a piece of valuable skill luggage for me, and I enjoy learning new things from the company.
