Carola is the executive assistant to the General Manager Ethan Frey at Confio, where she ensures that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. From planning events to introducing new admin systems and improving internal communication. Carola’s energy and enthusiasm are infectious — she is currently enthusing everyone by posting photos and information about the upcoming annual company retreat!

When asked about her experience of joining a web3 company, Carola explains that she was looking for a role that would offer her more flexibility and allow her to integrate work with the rest of her life. “In my previous jobs, I worked for a big corporate and found that they were very set in their ways of doing things,” she says. “I was a small fish in a big pond, and suggestions of how things might be improved were not followed up. I also wanted to find a role that would allow me to integrate work with my other passions.”

At Confio, Carola has found the flexibility and autonomy she was looking for. “No suits here and no set working hours,” she says. “Everyone works hard, but we can take time out during the day to tend to other things — walking dogs, shopping, the gym. It is much easier for me to integrate work with my other passions, such as singing. Plus, working for a fully remote company means I can live in different places.”

One of the things Carola highly values is Confio’s philosophy of valuing everyone’s insights. She explains that her opinions are taken seriously, even though she is not a developer. “At Confio, we all learn from one another, and we work collaboratively,” Carola says. She is impressed with the dynamic and interactive approach the company takes to improve its operations. “If I think something can be improved, we change it, and if it doesn’t work, we change it again. This is a philosophy I really appreciate.”

A common myth about software developers is that they get stuck down a rabbit hole. They become so engrossed in their work that they are unaware of what happens in the outside world. However, Carola’s experience of working with developers has been very different. “They are multi-talented and have a broad range of interests. I have had countless fascinating discussions with the developers — learning about everything from history or the latest music trends to the cutting-edge blockchain.” It’s clear that Confio’s developers are not only passionate about their work but also curious and engaged with the world around them.

“My first 6 months at Confio have been exciting, busy, and full of learning — I can’t wait to find out what this year will bring.”
