This week Congressman Correa:

Joined bipartisan Veterans Affairs Committee Colleagues to pass multiple bills to help our veterans.

  • On Wednesday, I joined my colleagues to pass 11 bills out of committee that will substantially help our veterans. Read about them here.

I wrote an Op-Ed on why investing in cybersecurity is so important

  • When I was young the fear was nuclear war. Now, a small piece of malicious software can bring down a power grid. Investing in cybersecurity is a matter of national security. We must invest in programs that can create the next generation of cyber warriors. If we don’t invest in these programs now, we will never catch up. Read it here.

  • I sat down with Tsi-Tsi-Ki Félix to talk about the progress of the Healthcare debate, and the Russia investigation. Tune in Sunday and watch.

Introduced a resolution to invest in Cybersecurity training

  • I introduced a resolution stating the importance of getting young people prepared for careers in cybersecurity. See the resolution here.

Met with the AAC-OC to discusses

I met with the AAC-OC on Friday to discuss how I am helping North Orange County prosper. More to come.

Legislative Update:

Updating the GI Bill

  • On Thursday, I joined my colleagues to introduce a new GI Bill that will allow more veterans take advantage of higher education opportunities after their service. Read about the bill here.

Vietnamese Resolution

  • I introduced a resolution acknowledging the contributions and accomplishments of Vietnamese Americans. They are an integral part of our society and I am proud to represent them. See more here.

NDAA Cyber Security Amendments Passed The House

  • Two of my amendments passed. The first requires the Defense secretary to provide Congress with a report on all cyberattacks against DoD systems within 24 months perpetrated by the Russian government. The second amendment requires the Pentagon to develop a strategy for using offensive cyber security and to provide technical assistance to NATO members to deter Russian aggression. Rep. Lou Correa (D-Calif.) introduced the resolution Wednesday, which would express the sense of Congress “that the United States should support the development of programs that better prepare students for careers in cybersecurity by actively promoting ethical hacking skills.”

The amendment was introduced by Rep. Lou Correa (D-Calif.) to annual defense policy legislation and approved by the full House Wednesday night.

“My amendments are about creating the procedures necessary to keep our infrastructure, our networks, and our data safe from our adversaries,” Correa said.
