Why IPSY is for Empty-ing Nest Moms
I was one of “those” moms. For a while anyway. I stayed home and raised my kids for eight years. I was a full time college student during those days working on my bachelor degree and taking care of four small children. I worked part-time off and on to help make ends meet, but was there for them when they got off the bus. I baked, cooked dinner, took them to the park, took them swimming, and all that mom stuff. They were wonderful years.
I also neglected to develop myself as a woman. I got an idea in my head that we were supposed to pour all of our resources into the kids. We did that not knowing why. It felt like the right thing to do. It felt noble in fact. Pour all your time, energy, and finances into your kids and you’re a good parent. That meant stay at home mom clipped her nails instead of getting manicures. She bought cheap body spray instead of perfume. She grabbed her make up at the dollar store, or if she was lucky she got Cover Girl from Wal Mart. She was noble you see. She was giving everything to the kids and to do less was taking away from them.
The kids have grown up and are moving away. As they do I can see how I neglected myself. Perhaps giving so much to them and so little to myself was a mistake. I am on a painful journey to figure out who I am and to make up for years I didn’t spend developing myself as a woman. Who am I?
Part of that journey has included starting new hobbies, going back to college to get my MBA, and starting a new career. Part of it includes taking care of myself in new, but familiar ways. Exercise, weight lifting, bicycling, an occasional manicure, pedicure, hair color, new clothes, and those things that make me feel like a woman.
My 20 year old daughter has been there to give me tips and advice for getting back into doing what she does naturally — shop and care for herself. She recommended IPSY. Something at first that I thought was just for younger people, but after subscribing realized was for anyone interested in trying new make-up.
Each month I receive a bag of goodies that are tailored to my preferences. For a cheap price I am able to try make up that I never even knew existed. It’s fun to try new products and to learn that there are more make up options than your brick-n-mortar store has to offer and beyond those established mass market brands.
Perhaps you need a boost in your routine or want something that will bring variety into your life. Perhaps you think that this new make-up is only for youth, or you just aren’t sure where to start finding new products. Sign up for IPSY. For $10.00 a month you get a cute bag filled with great products. It will provide you with a variety of make-up and products to try and get you on the road to freshening up your life and your daily routine.
