3 Ways Google Apps @ Work Rocks

I work at Thumbtack and we use Google Apps (G Suite) products. They are pretty great for at least three reasons:

  1. Everything just works and works with it.
I don’t have to install software or wait for IT, and the entire internet loves working with Google. Apps that I have come to love like youcanbook.me and ifttt just plain work with google apps.
  2. Sharing and collaboration happens fast. And it’s archived with the document.
Maybe your office doesn’t use Google Docs or Spreadsheets much, but getting fully over onto Google Apps means fast sharing, commenting, replying and content management.
Google Sheets (hey, and use Google Big Query, too) means real data can be leveraged in real-time. None of this “waiting for the new spreadsheet” business you’re probably doing while reading this.
Also, comments and other changes to documents are archived and kept inline with the documents/sheets. This can help cascade valuable knowledge about how a certain process got to this point or what insights have already been discovered.
  3. Smart search.
Seriously? If you’re still making folders of files and emails and meticulously parsing your documents into trees of folders and sub folders, you’re wasting a lot of time. Let Google do the hard work for you keeping a constantly up-to-date index of all YOUR emails and documents and, anything shared with you, too. Really. It’s fantastic.
