Can specially trained neighborhood members be made moderators? How do more moderators get added? What if moderators disagree on what’s ok and what’s not? (I think that’s ok, but perhaps something to discuss)

Are people forced to use their real identities on the site? And can other users flag a certain users comments for racial bias among other things?

Would letting the community work out its own problems help?

Problems I see:

  • If I get there first and have a social agenda I want to express, and become an admin, then I have a bigger voice than you.
  • Flagging another person doesn’t help you and that person learn to get along. You’re neighbors, after all.

How can the townhall meeting approach or other moderately proven methods of grassroots democracy be used here? If at all?
