Disable Alerts for an iCal Shared Calendar

If you have many shared calendars, say for family members, birthdays or other things, you may be annoyed that iCal foists alerts upon you even if they are just not valuable.

I found this great article that explains how you can Ignore the alerts from a shared calendar! This is heaven-sent, and I never would have found this on my own (who thinks to hit Command-I and go to the info settings!)

Now, how to make this work on iOS?
