As soon as I saw the announcement about Google’s answer to applicant tracking systems, dubbed “Google Hire” my first response was “oh, snap!”. The Google Jobs addition has already unceremoniously bumped a fair amount of Google Search results out of the way for its graph/card-based job listings, so while it’s not surprising to see the Plex turn on an answer to the OTHER side of the recruiting problem (actually managing candidate flow), but I’ll admit I didn't expect something so soon.

I will be checking out Google Hire tomorrow on a webinar to pitch the product. I will be interested in seeing if this is actually a Googly product (innovative and interesting) or if it’s simply the logical extension of what happens when a massive, massive company like Google works to extend its reach into the enterprise with deeper and deeper service offerings.

Is Google Hire really going to disrupt hiring, or has Google jumped the shark on this one, throwing software at a problem it doesn’t understand?
