Interestingly, where are the VCs and Angels in all this. They are often the same age as the people being harassed or discriminated against — though many of them probably made some or all their money when they, too, were younger and arrogant enough to think it was exactly their youthful rashness and willingness to “break the rules” that landed them in the money chair today.

But investors of all kinds — not new or original to Silicon Valley — love to look the other way as things spin toward more hopeful profits and a big payout, doing little more than reinforcing the issue that it’s ok to be agesist and even sexist or racist because, well, we’re all richer now, so it’s got to be right. Right?

I hope Uber’s issues perhaps push Boards to be a little more aware of what’s REALLY happening under that neatly coifed corporate veil carefully curated and reduced to PowerPoint (not people) for Board Meeting presentations.

Probably not until more losses start to mount.
