After watching the final video of Girona’s group when we did the second skype call, we would define the video as a promotional video of two cities, the background music is intense, which makes audiences feel the enthusiasm.

The clips from Melbourne they used in their film represented a real lifestyle of Melbourne, such as the wallaby in the suburb, sunbathing on the beach and swimming, all of which are very representatives and can be a normal lifestyle to Melbourne people, these also may attract some international students that come from a place that doesn’t see much wildlife or mainland with no ocean, like one of our group member Amy, who comes from China mainland, ‘I love the beach in Melbourne, and wildlife, because I grow up in an inland city, there are no beaches and ocean for me to go, wildlife is a kind of rare thing either.’

The comparison between Melbourne and Girona can be showed clearly, Girona seems a quiet and isolated place with no much people, ancient buildings that represent a Europe cultural characteristic, and Melbourne in their film always got lots of people, on the beach, on the tram, or on the streets, those makes Melbourne looks more diversified and modern but also keeping the original culture, such as the suburb shots.

They used the split-screen to show the similarities of Melbourne and Girona, the train scenes are a good connection between two cities, it gives us a feeling that our daily route to school is similar, even we live in different countries. However, because of the clips we provide do not locate in Melbourne city, there is a one-sidedness that the ‘modern city’ didn’t show in their film, where I spend most of my time in Melbourne. As I said, the train in the film is really familiar to us and makes us feel that’s in Melbourne.

In our final film, it’s very interesting to see we found some connections between Girona and Melbourne, the graffiti can be a typical Melbourne feature, when we see the video from our Girona group also got graffiti somewhere, that makes us feel we are connected, also, the similar daily routine makes us feel they are the students live in the same city with us, we also go somewhere to feel the life for relax, hang out with friends, those ordinary activities gives us a familiarity.

In our final film, the typical feature of Melbourne has been shown in a good way. As two different parts of the people living in Melbourne, Zarina not only sees her Melbourne life in the film, at the same time, she learned Amy’s City life as an international student. Amy also sees the true life of her in Melbourne, after knowing to Zarina suburban life, she has more curiosity and the expectation to explore Melbourne. We also love the part of Girona we saw from our international group, as Zarina is going to Europe and will pass Girona in the next year, this film we made is making her feel more familiar with the city.
