Our second Skype with our group in Girona went well. We got to discuss our perceptions about each city in detail and also got some feedback about what we could incorporate into our final film to help paint a better picture of what life is really like, in Girona.

We asked about some of the clips they had sent us to get a better understanding of what they were about, and what each one represented to them, asking if they go to the locations shown often, or if it was more of a tourist attraction. One particular scene from the bridge over the river, came up as being especially important to most of them as they cross it almost everyday on their way to university. Because we want to explore familiarity through similarity, bridges and the river seem to be an important aspect to their lives that we need to incorporate into our film, amongst others, to best reflect daily life in Girona.

We asked what they thought of our first film and also the rough draft of our second film and they said it was really well edited and they looked like actual films. This was lovely feedback and hopefully we can continue this. In discussing our rough cut with Hannah, we found that our film was not clear about connecting the cities, and so we edited the voiceover to try and emphasis how familiarity is born from finding connections and similarities of what is known and what is new. We have a lot to work on to make this film stand apart culturally but also to question if you are looking at Girona or Melbourne, to push the point of why our cities are similar therefore making the foreign, familiar.
