Kavanaugh is douchebag 1980s America trying to collect its due

Will 2018 America stand in its way or give up ?

If the 2010s will be known for “bro culture”, the 1980s saw “douchebag culture” infest films and tv and society at large. Brett Kavanaugh’s classmates are starting to describe scenes at parties that resemble teen comedies of that era. John Podhoretz made an excellent point on the Commentary magazine podcast last week that what we’re witnessing is the sexual culture having changed diametrically. He referenced Revenge of the Nerds’ climax as a clear instance of sexual assault being passed of as humorous.

Molly Ringwald wrote a powerful piece in The New Yorker detailing how uncomfortable she feels showing some of her work from the 80s to her daughter. I grew up with John Hughes films and looking back, Hughes does put women in sexual assault situations and spins them for laughs.

Brett Kavanaugh is the perfect representative of this despicable douchebag culture, David Rothkopf even calls its Asshole Culture. We’ve all met them, had to share classes, trips, etc with these Gordon Gekko worshippers. They personify the vulgarian 1980s, with the big hair, bad Don Johnson lookalike suits, the perversion of the Reagan era. Pre-AIDS 80s is the era when Kavanaugh grew up, in a prep school where clearly kids were let loose (see David Kennedy’s suicide). It seems that generation lacks all self-awareness which is why he’s most surely lying about his hard partying past. The women he assaulted, rightly so, can’t stomach him on the Supreme Court and are finally speaking up.

The amoral douchebags like Kavanaugh who masquerade as good family values Christian men have had a good run wrecking America, why not try and place one of their own on the Supreme Court to further defang a more inclusive democracy ?

These douchebags are the scourge of Gen X, they surely were despicable sexual assaulters and cannot face this in 2018, they can’t tell their wives or kids, so they lie. ALL their friends are surely guilty of lying because of shame. America in the go go 80s was a jungle, ask Donald “escaping AIDS was my Vietnam” Trump.

Kavanaugh, The Federalist Society, Trump and the entire merry band of douchebags they are lack remorse and the morality they claim, on an Everest-high level.

This goes WAY beyond MeToo, it’s the entire Reagan-era, trickle-down economics and weaponization of abortion to pass huge tax cuts potentially falling like a house of cards (pun totally intended).

Will America have the will to push this era off the cliff ? We shall see.
