Connext Update #9
NYC Blockchain Week, Integrations, v2.0
Hello friends,
It’s been a busy few weeks here at Connext.
First, we met up in New York for Blockchain Week. We’re a distributed team, so this was the first time that the most of the core team has been in the same place in nearly a year!
After traveling home to our respective time zones, we’ve been sprinting to make the API changes necessary for simple wallet integrations and our v2.0 protocol spec, which we’ll detail in a technical post soon.
A few highlights from blockchain week:
- Arjun spoke at Ethereal Summit (if you have a recording, let us know!) and at Celer’s Future of Layer 2 Scalability panel.
- On Sunday the 12th, Mosendo, who recently built their web wallet on Connext, hosted a happy hour in conjunction with Maker. DAI was the only currency accepted by bartenders!
- We hosted a meetup where ~30 attendees learned about Connext, had pizza, and then hung out at a local watering hole.
- We sat down with the Counterfactual team to work on v2.0 of the Connext Network.
- We participated in a roundtable with Perun, Magmo, CF, Pisa, and Celer to outline shared standards for state channels and work towards a unified network.
- At ETHNY, Bruno from MetaMask Mobile built a web POS system, and Gatekeeper Network built their alpha hardware using Connext!
What’s next?
💸 We’re working on a state channel JSON RPC standard which should allow wallets to inject support for Connext, Counterfactual and eventually other channel networks just like they currently inject web3. This means any dApp running in a browser will have access to state channels!
🌐 v2.0 of the Connext Network — which includes support for generalized state changes, multihop transactions (i.e. anyone can run a node!), and interoperates with the Counterfactual framework — is now officially under development.
📈 We’re growing. Five projects currently use Connext on mainnet, with another seven projects going live soon.

As always, get in touch with us by:
And lastly, please share this with your friends in the ecosystem if you find it interesting. We can’t wait to help enable instant, low cost Ethereum transactions in wallets, browsers, and applications.
Thanks for your support,
Team Connext
