The universal fabric

Last time, in The Numbers Game, I wrote about the simple fact of 1 and how in the end everything reverts to oneness. The word universe is self-evidently an expression of oneness. A particle is a hologram of the universe and all particles are part of the universe and they are all one and the same in their essence and origin.

If one thinks of the universe as an infinite ball of threads crisscrossing and extending in all directions, each nexus or knot is an individual point in the fabric linked not just to the adjacent knots but all along the threads that extend from or to it. And those threads are linked to other threads so that all the knots are connected — more or less strongly depending on how far they are from each other.

If a knot is destroyed, the whole fabric is affected (think of a sweater where a pull on a thread at the top of the sleeve can ever so slightly distort the shape at the cuff). You as an individual knot may not be conscious that it has happened but your position in the fabric will have varied. If you think of those threads as energy, the intensity will change. The distance between knots will be different in each case and so will the effect of a destruction close to you be different from one far away.

But the distance that makes the difference is not a physical one. The death of a loved one (the destruction of a knot that is strong in your consciousness) will be as painful to you wherever in the world it has happened and the death of people we don’t know directly but who share the same culture has more resonance for us than those from a different culture. That resonance can be described in physics as a frequency if we’re talking about energy.

Just as the internet, TV and instant media have put us in touch with distant cultures, our consciousness is becoming aware of different frequencies. But there are many more frequencies that are reaching us without entering our consciousness. If we are not tuned to those other frequencies they are less strong for us. The exercise or directing of consciousness - whether individually or collectively - is simply tuning in to previously undetected frequencies, resonating not just with the known (the physical or “real” world) but also the unknown, complementing understanding with what is essentially fantasy and making them fit in with the cultural conditioning of the person who is reaching out. The fact that fantasy or imagination, the irrational consciousness, is used to make these other frequencies comprehensible does not mean that they do not exist. Indeed, by their very existence in consciousness they exist. Those previously unexplained frequencies detected by human consciousness once morphed, in the primeval period, into spirits in a world were the unknown and undiscovered made up a major part of realisation, what we call “reality”.

So, in earliest cultures, shamans summoned up power spirits to travel outside their physical realm and fantastic animals and gods were conjured up to represent forces that were not understood. Science replaces those spirits representing the unknown with knowledge and, as it has succeeded in doing so, the many gods of old were knocked down. The more advanced the scientific knowledge, the fewer gods have remained, until much of the world was reduced to a monotheistic belief, a belief in the one. However, by representing it as a single god — and a patriarchal one at that, vested with authority — monotheistic religions make the One something separate from, and on a higher level than, us as individuals, the knots in the multidimensional mesh. By so doing they encouraged duality and obscured the oneness.

That infinite tissue of threads is also the one of which each of us is a part. As we become more aware of the other frequencies, which we can enhance by practices that direct our consciousness to the unknown, tuning in to the fantastic and what can be termed the divine even if we do not understand them, that fabric of energy begins to oscillate increasingly more in tune and the clashes of different frequencies even out, tending harmony. Technology has allowed that to happen on our planet by communication and understanding of other societies and cultures and even beyond, as we begin to visualise and understand the energies of star clusters, galaxies and even dark matter. By opening up our spiritual receptors — our frequency sensors — we can discard our rejection of the unknown and unexplained, to vibrate on the same frequencies, to lose our fear of the chaos of energy threads or frequencies that meet in us and make us the individual but connected nexus that we are. That attunement is speeding up and will do so until the moment when the existence of all frequencies, the cosmic whole, the one, will enter the consciousness of all and will become reality. What we think of reality now will then cease to matter and matter will cease to constrain us. The endless jumble of numbers we have constructed around us to explain the universe will merge to one. A consciousness revolution will have arrived.
