7 Traditional Chakras
Chakra means wheel or vortex in Sanskrit. Chakras are like energetic wheels that are within our bodies. Each chakra represents a different type of energy and state of mind, which everyone experiences in their own way. Each chakra also has its own colour, together they form a rainbow. Although there are many (including in the hands and feet) there are 7 main ones in our bodies. These chakras, or energy centres, function as pumps or valves, regulating the flow of energy through our energy system. The functioning of the chakras reflects decisions we make concerning how we choose to respond to conditions in our life. We open and close these valves when we decide what to think and what to feel.
