[Updates] imToken 2.0 International Open Beta
Since the launch of imToken 2.0 International beta on March 21st, we have been overwhelmed with suggestions from users, we are really thankful for that. After five iterations of improvement to our beta, we are delighted to announce an update that will further enhance the security and improve user experience.
1. Introduced a new user on-boarding system

New User On-boarding System
To help new users better understand decentralised wallet mechanisms and prevent loss of assets, imToken has introduced a New Users On-boarding System. New users are required to complete a self-assessment on wallet security to unlock some of the wallet functions. On top of that, users passing the assessment will receive a TFT (TokenFans Token, a honorary badge). There will be more similar assessments in the future to obtain more TFT to unlock more premium features.
In addition, to better serve imToken users, the on-boarding system also includes a “Newsletter Subscription” function. Subscribers will receive timely updates including the latest product updates, tutorials, security risk reminders, upcoming event information and more.
Security Reminders System
One of imToken primary emphasis is wallet security. imToken has always considered the potential risks involved from all perspectives, including from user’s perspectives. The following are the improvements introduced for the imToken 2.0 International on security aspects:
1. Security risk reminder emails
2. Notification system when wallet is imported into a new device
3. Android device Root risk warning
4. Security reminder for high-risk tokens
5. Strengthened validation of SSL certificates for enhanced security
To explain further about security reminder system for high-risk tokens, fraudulent incidents have been rising following the rapid growth of attention on blockchain technology. To help users protect their assets, imToken introduced a security reminder system based on feedback from users, flagging smart contracts reported to be fraudulent, phishing intent or is included in the public phishing databases.
The security reminder system relies on the community, we encourage all users to submit feedback to imToken by sending email to hack@consenlabs.com, taking part in improving the overall security of the ecosystem.
Faster and smoother Instant Exchange Experience
Instant exchange (IEX) is one of the core features of imToken 2.0 International and incidentally, users’ favorite feature. Currently, 21 different tokens are tradeable on IEX, including DAI and DGX which were added recently. The addition of stable currency like DAI and DGX gave users an option to reduce exposure to price volatility in the cryptocurrency world. Some users feedback that there are bugs related to IEX execution, our development team has worked hard to fix those issues prior to the release of this update.
Many users also mentioned that the IEX exchange fee is costly, to answer the questions better, we have prepared pictures to illustrate the difference between trading with IEX and using a traditional exchange. 0.5 ETH will be exchanged into EOS with the same exchange rate to participate in the EOS Block Producers voting in this scenario.
Comparison results:
As you can see, without considering withdrawal fees, centralised exchanges will have a clear advantage. However, IEX will be more suitable for small-scale immediate trading activities, not to mention the clear advantages on security as users have complete custody of their assets in the latter case.
