Celebrate #ETHSommer at Berlin Blockchain Week 18–29 August 2019. Learn more about our exclusive prizes, meetups, and knowledge sharing sessions.

The summer is warming up, and Berlin Blockchain Week is right around the corner. From 18–29 August, troves of hackers, developers, and entrepreneurs storm the city of Berlin to hear talks from industry leaders. Each day is packed with exciting content, spanning from the Web3 Summit at Funkhaus to DappCon at Technische Universität. Berlin Blockchain Week Volume I was a big (yet poorly documented) hit. This year, we cordially invite you to Berlin Blockchain Week 2019. This time, we’re bringing our cameras and exclusive prizes.

In the sea of overhyped blockchain conferences popping up in the city, Berlin Blockchain Week prevails as the community favorite. Returning for the second year, the decentralized conference continues its hyper-focus on education, knowledge sharing, and cutting edge industry updates from the mouths of those who ship. Most of the events are free, or cost-friendly, giving you the chance to save your coins for a gemuüse kebap or buy your plane ticket to DevCon.

Events you can’t miss:

As a decentralized, community-organized initiative held in various locations, it can be difficult to choose between an overload of exciting activities. We recommend purchasing a BVG ticket, downloading one of those e-scooter apps and shuffling yourself to the following events:

Web3 Summit
Mon, Aug 19, 2019 — Wed, Aug 21, 2019, Funkhaus Berlin

Each year, Web3 researchers and devs gather at Funkhaus Berlin. Once the broadcasting station for the GDR, architects and sound technicians reconfigured the historical location into a world-class broadcasting campus, and multi-purpose studio that holds concerts of every genre. The sound quality of the recording rooms at Funkhaus remains unrivalled to this day.

Funkhaus is a fitting place for Web3 summit, as a collection of researchers, developers, thought-leaders, and protocol engineers gather to ideate, design, and facilitate a user-focused decentralized web what will modernize the historical artefact that is Web3. Come for the impressive venue, stay for the talks.

3box Bounties

Build with 3Box during the hackathon for the chance to earn DAI. Learn more about 3box’s ETHBerlin bounties.

Kauri Documentation Bounties

Up-to-date and good quality documentation is often mentioned as lacking in most software projects, and doubly so with Web3. In the first collaboration hackathon of many with the ConsenSys Grants team, Kauri launches documentation bounties at ETHBerlin for projects to get their issues funded and worked upon by hackers. Keep an eye out for bountied documentation issues for ETH Berlin.

Developer Interviews

Developers, it’s your time to shine. Stop by the ConsenSys booth at ETHBerlin hackathon and tell us of your hopes and dreams. Explore our popular Dev Portal, give your honest-to-goodness feedback, and receive swag in return.

#FollowNarly

Have you met Narly? Born from the sea of Open Source, Narly, the futuristic, robotic-yet-conscious gender-neutral Narwhal, makes their debut during #EthSommer. The youngest and toothiest Meshian will continue their world tour in Osaka for DevCon. Win Narly swag by participating in #ETHSommer bounties.

Shoutouts From the Mesh

3Box:

“Please join the 3Box team and #BuildBetter throughout Berlin Blockchain Week. We’ll be hosting a star-studded panel on Web3 usability at our meetup on Tuesday evening (and giving out some limited edition swag). Then catch our workshops on Thursday at Dappconn on building a decentralized chat app, and on Friday of EthBerlin on building messaging into your own dapp. Also, be sure to check out their bounties at the ETHBerlin hackathon and get started building with super simple distributed data and identity with their new docs site.”

Infura

“We’re excited to support the hackers at ETHBerlin Zwei, one of the best developer events of the year. Don’t miss Infura founder E.G. Galano’s talk on the advantages of running hybrid infrastructure, and come to our welcome party with the Department of Decentralization on Wednesday! Infura’s Ethereum & IPFS APIs serve thousands of dApps every day, and we want to keep building the best developer toolset for you. So if you use Infura, we’d love to hear from YOU — come visit us at the ConsenSys booth…or slide into our DMs!”

Kaleido

“Kaleido will be at Berlin Blockchain Week to help developers build the next generation of decentralized applications with tools that make it easier and faster to design killer apps. Stop by to see us at ETHBerlin, or catch Jim Zhang give a talk at Web 3 Summit titled, “Developing smarter and faster on Kaleido.”

MythX:

“Stop by the security helpdesk organized by the MythX and ConsenSys Diligence team at ETHBerlin to learn about security best practices and secure development techniques. Throughout the weekend, visitors can take part in interactive exercises such as verifying smart contracts in Remix, building security testing into the CI pipeline, and identifying and fixing common security bugs. Visitors will also have the chance to take the attacker’s side and lean about the offensive tools and techniques being used to exploit smart contracts in the wild. Also, check out MythX’s talk on Saturday morning on how the use of multiple security analysis methods can detect smart contract security vulnerabilities with high accuracy.”

We look forward to seeing you in Berlin!
