Ethereum 2.0 and Staking

Anticipated to launch in 2020, Ethereum 2.0 is the next phase in the evolution of the Ethereum blockchain. Unique to Ethereum 2.0 is the opportunity for participants (validators) to stake ETH on the network and receive rewards for their contribution to securing the chain. This mechanism — known as Proof of Stake — provides unique opportunities for developers, ETH holders, and businesses to engage with Ethereum 2.0 while generating a revenue stream.

Though the Ethereum 2.0 blockchain will not become fully functional for likely a couple of years, the opportunity to stake ETH and earn rewards will be available to users immediately at the launch in 2020. As a result, teams across the Ethereum ecosystem are building solutions to provide users with staking services.

The PegaSys team has built Teku to facilitate the adoption of Ethereum 2.0 among businesses with the most complete enterprise-grade security and performance requirements.

What Is PegaSys Teku?

PegaSys Teku is an Ethereum 2.0 client built to enterprise standards to accelerate businesses’ ability to stake on the network. The Teku client enables businesses to set up and run staking infrastructure for the public Eth2 network. As an open source product written in Java and Apache 2 licensed, Teku meets enterprise infrastructure and security requirements. A core benefit of the Teku client is the full support and innovation of PegaSys, the team behind the Ethereum 1.0 Hyperledger Besu client for enterprises. Additionally, Teku supports key features for Ethereum 2.0 and staking, including: external key management, robust documentation, REST APIs, and more.

Teku is currently live on the Witti multiclient testnet, and will support future testnets and the Ethereum 2.0 mainnet as they go live.

Ethereum 2.0 is a new era for the Ethereum and blockchain ecosystem. There are unique security, orchestration, and networking dynamics to learn and implement for developers and enterprises. The PegaSys team is offering a Pilot Program to early adopters who want to help us build Teku by directly influencing our product roadmap. The program provides partnership with the PegaSys team to install Teku, set up your staking infrastructure, inform and test new roadmap items, and troubleshoot any issues directly with PegaSys support to maximally de-risk your staking solution.

The Pilot Program lasts from the launch of the testnet through to one month following the Eth2 mainnet launch.

Join the Teku Pilot Program

Partner with PegaSys to launch your staking infrastructure for the Ethereum 2.0 beacon chain. The pilot program is a hands-on implementation of our Teku enterprise client from testnet launch to one month after mainnet launch.
