Read the EU Blockchain Observatory’s New Report on Innovation in Europe

“When it comes to blockchain, European institutions are heeding the call,” states the new report titled Blockchain Innovation in Europe, released by the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum, a two-year initiative that was launched by the European Commission in February 2018. The observatory was launched in conjunction with ConsenSys alongside a number of universities including University College of London, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the University of Southampton, and the Knowledge Media Institute at Open University.
The EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum project represents one of the most in-depth forays into the study of blockchain supported by an EU governmental body, and is playing a major role in laying the foundation for a productive relationship between the blockchain community and the legacy institutions of European finance, industry, and governance.
The ‘Blockchain and Innovation in Europe’ paper examines the state of blockchain innovation in Europe today, looking at both the continent’s strengths and weaknesses vis-à-vis this technology, and makes recommendations on where Europe may set its priorities in the future.
