ConsolFreight — E-Forwarding
ConsolFreight launches E-forwarding, helps small and midsize freight forwarders make the digital transition
Miami, FL — ConsolFreight, the innovative platform that allows customers to book freight, share trade lanes, and network with freight forwarders, is bolstering its offerings by introducing E-forwarding. Through E-forwarding, ConsolFreight will white label its entire platform to integrate with any freight forwarder’s transactional website, which will allow traditional freight forwarders who face costly and difficult barriers to entry to take their business digital.
Right now, tech disruption in the cargo logistics space is at an all time high. But unfortunately, the majority of the companies able to reap the benefits of that disruption are large and resource abundant. According to projections by McKinsey, small to midsize traditional freight forwarders who don’t digitize by 2025 run the risk of being phased out of the marketplace.
“The pressure on traditional forwarders will surely increase as digitization continues its long march through the world economy. They must now consider their choices carefully,” Manuel Bauml, a consultant, writes for McKinsey. “First, embracing digital technology in customer-facing and back-end processes is a no regrets move. Second, they must place strategic bets on building or buying marketplaces or partnering with emerging digital platforms.”
ConsolFreight’s E-forwarding solution offers exactly the kind of rapid improvement Bauml suggests. It is a transactional portal where freight forwarders can sell their services at a global scale and leverage the support of an interconnected network of collaborative agents to gain global coverage and automate and digitize most of the forwarding functions — such as booking, quotes, invoicing, tracking, Smart B/Ls and more.
“For us, introducing E-forwarding was a natural step to help our industry evolve. We know the types of challenges traditional forwarders face, both from a cost and infrastructure standpoint, and we know digitization will be key to their competitive longevity, and this product will go a long way to helping smaller companies clear those hurdles,” says Ernesto Vila, founder of Consol Freight.
Now conventional forwarders can drive digital traffic to their portal and have clients around the globe purchase logistics services through the portal regardless of routes of transportation. Entire markets that were once off-limits now open for expansion. And it’s all possible at a fraction of the cost of developing the platform on their own.
“Not only can small and midsize freight forwarders improve their operations through our technology, but they can grow their business too and attract new streams of revenue,” says Vila.
E-forwarding will launch at the X2 Forwarders meeting, which will be held in Bangkok on February 22nd.
