Constellation’s Tessellation V3: How the Hypergraph’s Next Upgrade Moves Web3 Forward
Tessellation V3 isn’t just a network upgrade — it’s a leap forward for the entire Web3 movement. By unlocking new ways to build, stake, and exchange value, it pushes blockchain beyond its limitations and brings us closer to a truly decentralized future.
In geometry, a tessellation is a pattern made of shapes that fit together perfectly-no gaps, no overlaps. Think of tiled floors, honeycombs, or mosaics. Each individual piece plays its part in forming a seamless, structured whole.
That same concept is at the heart of Constellation Network.
Just like a geometric tessellation, Constellation is built on interconnected components — validator nodes, metagraphs, data pipelines — each contributing to a greater system designed for trust, scalability, and real-world utility.
And now, with the upcoming release of Tessellation V3, that pattern is about to evolve into something stronger, faster, and more powerful than ever before.
What Is Tessellation?
Tessellation is the core protocol of the Constellation Network. It’s not the Hypergraph itself — it’s what makes the Hypergraph function.
Tessellation defines the logic, infrastructure, and consensus mechanisms that power the network. It processes snapshots of validated data, ensures consensus across all nodes, and coordinates the activity of Metagraphs -custom blockchains that run on the Hypergraph.
Think of it as the invisible foundation enabling decentralized, real-time applications to run securely and at scale. It’s the protocol layer that everything else is built on.
Tessellation V3: The Upgrade That Changes Everything
Tessellation V3 is the next major evolution of that foundation.
A rebuilt core introduces a more modular architecture that dramatically improves performance. The network will be able to support more validators, more metagraphs, and faster data processing — all while preserving security and decentralization.
Validator participation is also being opened up. Anyone will be able to run a validator node and help secure the network — no specialized hardware or insider access required.
Staking is getting smarter, too. With V3, staking moves beyond passive token locking. Validators will contribute real value by validating data and supporting network operations. This upgrade lays the foundation for Delegated Staking, where token holders can support trusted validators and share in rewards — without needing to run their own infrastructure.
For developers, Tessellation V3 strengthens the base layer that powers the Euclid SDK. While most will build through Euclid, every application will rely on the services, protocols, and consensus mechanics that Tessellation provides.
Real Use Cases, Just Ahead
Tessellation V3 isn’t just a protocol upgrade — it’s a launchpad for entirely new functionality.
A few of the key capabilities being introduced:
- New transaction types like AllowSpend, SpendTransaction, and TokenLock allow secure, conditional transfers, atomic swaps, staking, and delegated operations — all without needing vulnerable smart contracts.
- Delegated Staking becomes possible through TokenLocks, allowing token holders to support validators and earn rewards without running their own infrastructure.
- Node Collateral Staking introduces delayed-withdrawal token locks and slashing mechanisms for increased network security — while enabling new models like crowdfunded node operation.
- FeeTransactions unlock pay-per-use access to data or services across Metagraphs while preserving privacy.
These features aren’t just theoretical. They’re already being tested on IntegrationNet, with ecosystem tools like Stargazer Wallet and the DAG Explorer fully integrated and ready for Delegated Staking and V3 transaction types.
Pacaswap is a powerful example of what this unlocks. As a native, Hypergraph-powered DEX, Pacaswap leverages nearly all of the new transaction types to coordinate liquidity across multiple Metagraphs — a feat few other networks can match. With user testing underway, it’s set to become a cornerstone of decentralized finance on Constellation.

This Isn’t Just Blockchain — It’s Infrastructure for Everything
With Tessellation V3, Constellation isn’t just tweaking performance — it’s rewriting what’s possible at the protocol level.
By introducing a modular, expressive foundation for secure data movement, staking, governance, and cross-chain coordination, V3 enables a new class of applications where trust is built into the protocol.
As CTO Alex Brandes put it: “Tessellation V3 marks a major evolution of the network — not just in architecture, but in what’s now possible for developers, projects, and the community at large.”
That evolution is already underway.
The Hypergraph Is About to Level Up
Tessellation V3 isn’t just another protocol upgrade — it’s the launchpad for everything coming next.
From Pacaswap to Delegated Staking, from enterprise integrations to open metagraph development, the foundation is in place for an entirely new era of decentralized innovation.
The network is evolving. The tools are ready. And the Hypergraph is about to enter a new dimension.
