A new year is a perfect new beginning. It is the perfect time to re-evaluate our progress and set new goals. Often times we find our selves in February and not on the track we had hoped. How do we avoid the shut down and keep moving forward?

A few simple guidelines will help ensure that you reach your goals.

First, be sure that you don’t try to change too much at one time. If you are setting business goals and personal goals be sure to make them very manageable. Too much change will likely result in a shut down.

Pick a goal that excites YOU. Be sure you aren’t choosing what someone else wants for you, but what you really truly want for yourself. You won’t keep working toward someone else’s goal.

Break your goals down in to manageable measurable chunks. You might want to do something really big and amazing. Set a reasonable deadline for that goal then figure out what you will need to do each month to reach that. Then, what do you need to achieve each week? What do you need to do each day? Here’s an example. Maybe you want to sell 10,000 in product by the end of June. Ok, that’s $1,667 each month or about $417 a week. What do you need to do to sell $417 a week? Know your numbers. What is your party average? Let’s say you average $200 a party. (That might actually be low for you, I’m just playing with numbers here.) So you need to hold about 2 parties a week and have some reorder sales as well. How many parties do you need to book to hold 2? Probably having 3 booked would guarantee that you hold 2 of them. (I’m just guessing.) How many people do you need to talk to to book 3 parties? Maybe 5 or 6? There is your goal. Talk to 5 or 6 people each week about holding a spa party, or what every your specialty is. Be sure to book from your bookings to make your job easier. If that is all you need to do you could really get your head around that. Then selling THOUSANDS of dollars doesn’t seem so hard. Numbers are measurable. Give your goal a value, something that you can number.

Last, reevaluate all the time. Check with your self every day, every week to see if you are doing the things you are supposed to do to reach your goal. Do you need to raise your goal? What could you do differently for better results. When you work this way, you will be astonished at what you can do.
