Taking one’s own responsibilities
After Trump’s Election
What history tells us
Two thousand years ago, a man came and took on collective responsibility, incarnating it on a cross and transcending it through resurrection. Ninety years ago, Hitler took on all fears, shameful thoughts and sad passions and led the planet to its near destruction. This week, an irresponsible man, a narcissistic pervert, took on all fears, shameful thoughts and sad passions on him.
For over 2000 years, humans have been making choices without ever taking responsibility for them. I dream of an adult world where everyone takes responsibility, because that’s the only way to change this world. It’s always someone else’s fault, and as long as it’s someone else’s fault, the world won’t change for the good of all. It’s the fault of the politician, the professional who didn’t do his job, the partner, the parents…
From France, it’s easy to point the finger at the Americans and Trump, but we’ll see the elections in two years’ time in France — France, which is already failing to take responsibility for having colonized Algeria and Africa in general… which has never taken responsibility for the defeat of 1940… Look at the floods in Spain, and everyone blaming others for their own responsibility…
