ANOTHER UNSOLVED MYSTERY
How I Exorcised An Evil Spirit From My Hairdresser
I mean that literally
If you’ve read many of my stories, you’ll know I have a keen — some might say unhealthy —interest in the metaphysical, or weird, or paranormal, or whatever you want to call it.
The paranormal, however, is less interested in me — and my personal paranormal experiences are few and unconvincing.
Nevertheless, I’ll tell you about how I (and others) may or may not have saved a young woman from demonic infestation, and you can decide if you think it was a spirit or a figment of an overindulged imagination.
Some years back, I used to get my hair cut at a fancy salon near my downtown office. As with all my grooming decisions, the choice was based on proximity and indifference rather than competence but it proved fortuitous.
I began to be regularly styled by a young woman named Scarlett. Our haircut conversation was of the “Busy day at work?” variety, but still more interesting than it had been with my previous barber, a shrivelled, heavily accented Italian man who’d been cutting hair since Julius Caesar was an infant and may have been talking about sports.
I could never tell.
