How to Achieve Iconic Status
Do you know something is iconic in its preparation, in the doing, or realize it after the fact?
According to Wikipedia, the Director of Beyonce’s Single Ladies music video, Jake Nava, expressed surprise at the positive reception of the now-iconic artistic masterpiece.
It took Judy Feiffer, James Baldwin, and Robert Loomis to convince Maya Angelou to begin writing her autobiographies starting with the famous “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.”
“There’s not a liberal America and a conservative America — there’s the United States of America. There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America.” — Barack Obama
The words of the first African-American and 44th President of the United States of America ring out even louder today than we first heard him say them in 2004. His speech as a young US senator representing Illinois at the Democratic National Convention has been described as “the moment America fell in love with him.”
Almost five years to the day, the world will be enthralled by another speech that will go down in history as one of the best. Its relevance transcended the late 2000s to the 2010s and remains relevant today.
