THE WAR BETWEEN RESOLUTION AND MOVING ON
I Looked in the Mirror Today
I, me, and myself, and how we face the world
I looked in the mirror today
a little longer than two seconds
longer than I had in years
not due to the absence of a mirror
rather, because of what it represented
Taking stock
I flinched at what I saw
i saw tears from non-existent eyes
or is it who I saw?
almost like the being looking back had cried them out
I saw bruises. Claw marks, whip scars
like I had been brutalized
i looked back and saw no injuries
Why was I seeing this?
In the mirror, I have to be truthful
i am confronted head-on by my demons
my drama, my dilemma, my delinquency
I am the mirror
it is my reflection
I, looking at me
truth staring me back in the face
with every suckerpunch life has ever dealt me
