What is the purpose of fame for the mere mortals? What do we, the unfamous, get from leering at the ones who’ve MADE IT? The IT people? The CHOSEN ITS?

Is thinking about famous people useless and paddling in the shallow or is there something in there worth searching for?

Can we learn about ourselves through our obsession with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds?

I’ve always been smug about my lack of interest in the British Royals. Harry Schamarry. King Bling. Who cares? They’ve got nothing to do with me! I’ve been done with those schlubs since 1776! When it comes to the Royals, I am U.S.A., the United States of Apathy.

However, I am interested in American Celebrity, which is basically the same. Ask George Clooney.

How weird was it when George Clooney asked Joe Biden to step down from running? Here’s an actor from “The Facts of Life” telling a President to walk the plank. Back in the day, the Queen would have said “Off with his beautiful salt and pepper head!”
