Surprise, There Was a Line to Get Our 2025–2026 COVID-19 Vaccine
We thought we would be the only ones
Florida recently released the 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccines for its citizens. Our local Walgreens accepts walk-ins for vaccinations.
My spouse and I decided to walk-in to get our COVID shots on a Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday afternoons are our favorite times to wander around; most stores are empty. We dislike standing in long lines.
Imagine our surprise when there were six people ahead of us at 2 pm on a Tuesday. More people came in behind us, bringing our total to ten waiting. The pharmacists were hustling to get all of us serviced. There were insurance issues that delayed the process, but all of the folks ahead of us were served.
The people getting the vaccine were of different generations and ages. Four in line were older than us, three looked middle-aged, and the rest were young, under 50.
The line was surprising because the current Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was doing his best to discourage people from getting vaccinated. The hype was his efforts were successful. Don’t believe the hype. In reality, it may be something else, at least in Florida
