Einstein showed us that as the velocity of an object increases, time slows down for it. If it were possible for me to travel near the speed of light, I could go into the distant future without hardly aging. But as it stands, I’m aging just like anyone else, and it’s an interesting experience to say the least.

I feel more or less the same. My teeth look a little more worn and stained than they once did. I’ve lost the hair on my head, but it’s steadily returning in the form of unwanted back hair. There are the beginnings of some wrinkles here and there, and tiny clumps of white hair are popping up in my beard.

In some ways, I can feel it in my body. Damn shoulder won’t quit bothering me, and being just a little bit tired is the norm. Can’t drink too much red wine if I don’t want to get a sinus infection, and it takes me a solid three days to recover from an all-nighter. In other ways though, I feel stronger and better as I age. I can run faster, jump higher, lift more, and my body looks fitter than ever before.

One of the most startling ways we’re reminded of our age is by looking at those younger than us. My two-year-old nephew is like a Pokémon…
