Avoiding Contact with Trump Supporters is an Act of Resistance
Not engaging with DJT supporters infuriates them
Deciding what to do during the next four years is key to living your best life. Thinking about America’s past, present, and future will make one melancholy. But I have a plan to keep joy in my life.
I watch minimal news since the election — less than two hours per week. I read and research to stay informed. My spouse is very concerned about the world’s impact on our grandchildren.
Current events are always on our discussion board, but we agreed to stop talking about American politics before 7 p.m. each day. World events, climate change, etc., are always available for discussion. News about current events , which are not US politics, is what the rest of the world is discussing.
As a Black woman activist, I have chosen to take a sabbatical. My niece sent me a TikTok from Dr. Tiff that helped clarify my decision. On TikTok, Dr. Tiff discussed how not engaging is an act of cultural resistance. My niece got me thinking about what I want to do in the next four years and how I want to do it.
