Why My Trash Bags Have Four Ties and I Have None
Tying it all together isn’t always easy

They’re miracles in plastic,
trash bags I can tie up
to hide the pee pads
that the dogs used,
and the wrappers of my shame.
I can’t tie my flesh to muscle,
I can’t tie time to my days.
Instead of pretty ribbons
to tie up a wiggling package,
I just toss what I can’t hold
into the trash and walk away.
