Cheers to the freakin’ weekend. Here’s the content I’m consuming on this gorgeous Friday morning.

  • Harry’s House is HERE (Pitchfork). How I’ll be listening to Harry Styles’ new album this afternoon: with a mango-lemonade in hand, under the sun, in the green grass of my backyard, soaking in the change of seasons. It’s really been quite a good time for music, for me at least, with Kendrick Lamar coming out with his fifth album last week. Feels good. It’ll feel even better when we get Funk Wav Bounces Vol. II.
  • LaGuardia isn’t going to charge you $27 for a beer anymore (CN Traveler). And thank god for that. New York City airports will now be facing price caps for their surcharges on food and drinks. In fact, you can even get a refund if you’ve been overcharged for beers in the past at an NYC airport.
  • Fast fashion has finally given Love Island “the ick” (Vogue Business). I watch one reality show and one reality show only: Love Island. And not the U.S. version, because I’m a sucker for absurd accents and slang from across the Atlantic. Now, the show is attempting a revolution in its industry as it ditches fast fashion brands like Missguided, Pretty Little Thing, and Boohoo for secondhand pieces from eBay.
  • Romanticizing our mundane little lives (New York Times). Okay, I know I said I deleted TikTok yesterday since it’s truly been a negative presence in my life. But I’ll give it one positive review: it has helped me infuse a dreamy quality to the dullest of weekdays. Can cleaning your kitchen countertops and lighting a candle really be so glamorous? Give it a go.
  • Snowmobiles in slush in Svalbard (New York Times). As Norway’s islands heat up in the Arctic Circle, residents are struggling to do their usual recreational activities — snowmobiling, dog sledding, skiing, hiking, and more. This multimedia piece from the NYT is worth just looking at, with beautiful photos and videos from one of the northernmost human-occupied places on Earth.

And, of course, Rihanna had her baby. What a time to be alive. See you all on Monday!

A reminder that I do indeed read the news. But you don’t want me linking to stories about Ukraine, COVID, etc. here. Find that at your regular news outlets. Thanks!
