Building a brand online is so much fun and can lead to some amazing opportunities.
Many of the clients I work with have started a blog and know one day they want to make extra money from it. It might feel like a dream right now but creating your own brand and business online doesn’t have to be only a distant dream, you can make it a reality.
Where to Start
If you’re not sure where to begin, look at the social media you already use. For me, Instagram is my favorite and the easiest way to build a brand, connect with others and let people find you.
When you’re beginning to build a brand it’s important to let people know what they can expect from you. What are the topics you want to talk about?
Pick a handful and focus on these — It is important to have a niche but if you’re not quite at this business-building stage yet, pick some of your favorite things.
Next, a color scheme is helpful. It doesn’t have to become obsessive but it does help your brand begin to stand out from the crowd. You can add this color scheme to the clothes you wear in photos, your lipstick or even some flowers in the background.
Finally, and probably the most important part of starting to build a brand is to tell your story. What are the parts of your story you want to share with your audience to help them get to know you better?
You don’t have to share your life history but picking out a few key moments or activities help people feel they know you and again helps people trust you when you are ready to take your brand to the next level.
When you’re building a brand online, there’s a lot of testing which goes on. You can see what resonates with your audience and it also allows you to find out what you enjoy doing when it comes to creating content and building a brand.
By focusing on your brand building today, you’ll be grateful if you decide to take things further in the future with creating products, a website of your own or even working with other brands.
