The Nordic Council of Ministers has partnered with The Local, the Nordic region’s largest English-language news channel, to create a branded content article series designed to showcase unique Nordic values.

The series consists of 15 articles profiling different people from across the Nordic region who embody Nordic values.

“As we move forward with efforts to develop a unified brand for the Nordic region, it’s great to have a collection of high-quality content published on The Local, a channel that serves as a vital link between the region and the rest of the world,” says Nordic Council of Ministers’ Brand Manager, Tobias Grut.

Norwegian snowboarding champion Terje Håkonsen; Swedish equality activist and journalist Lina Thomsgård, founder of Equalisters; Finnish tech leader Marianne Vikkula, CEO of Slush; Faroese filmmaker Katrin Ottarsdóttir; and Michael Björklund, head chef at Åland restaurant Smakbyn are just a few of the names featured in the campaign, which launches on The Local’s Nordic editions on November 8th, 2016.

By focusing on individuals who personify different Nordic values, the articles aim to “show” rather than “tell” the world what living “the Nordic way” entails.

In the series’ first article, snowboarding legend Håkonsen talks about his more recent efforts to promote sustainability.

“We talk too much about sustainability; we need more action,” he says. “Nordic countries have good values, but we can be so much better than we are,” he tells The Local.

The articles were produced by The Local’s Client Studio, an in-house communications and content agency headed by David Landes.

“We’ve been telling Nordic stories for more than a decade to tens of millions of readers around the world,” says Landes. “It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to work directly with a partner like the Nordic Council of Ministers to create and publish a truly unique collection of stories to help increase understanding about Nordic brand values to our international audience.”
