As a marketer, you’ll know that sponsored content (also known as native advertising) is becoming increasingly popular with publishers and advertisers alike. Working together, media channels and brands can find concepts, angles, and topics that are particularly relevant to the readers of a particular news site.

The Local was an early adopter of native advertising, producing sponsored articles for clients way back in 2010. And in response to growing demand from clients for sponsored content, we launched our Commercial Content Unit in 2014. This meant we could give clients access to a full editorial team capable of producing engaging sponsored articles written in a tone and voice already familiar to our readers.

And as we enter 2016, we’re taking the conversation about content a step further with this blog and a monthly e-newsletter, Content Insights, that will showcase engaging native content on The Local and elsewhere. It will also include insights into The Local’s network of sites and our international, cosmopolitan audience.
