This time I have for you, 3 examples of Infographics that make comparisons.

  • Infographics as a content format is powerful because it speaks to both the visual side and text side of content consumers.
  • Comparisons as a content message format makes clear distinction in the information presented. This means it’s very useful when you want to make a clear point while keeping the message relatively simple.

Infographic comparisons then, are a useful way to condense a study or insight into easy to digest content.

Robert De Niro insights from Rotten Tomatoes

James Chapman made a simple (but clear, fun and insightful) infographic based on data from Rotten Tomatoes. Specifically, he shows us an insight into when “Robert DeNiro stopped caring.”

Reddit discussion of the Infographic

Mind boggling ranges of different stuffs’ temperatures shown in a colorful infographic. “Information is Beautiful Studio” created this lovely graphic to show how different objects (in the universe) compare in temperature. I was particularly astounded how close we are to the lower spectrum of how hot matter can get!

Apples vs Oranges — The final comparison!

r/Infographics — Some say it can’t be done, this infographic disagrees. Comparing apples to oranges

Reddit discussion of the infographic.

Compare apples and oranges, for real? Yes, Smarter[.]org took on the challenge of us all wanting to know how apples and oranges compare. A hilarious infographic with lots of colors and jokes. A great example of infographic as entertainment.

Book Recommendation

The Functional Art — a great book to read and use, especially when you’re a professional that is active in marketing, advertising or (data)communications. Like Marta Vale Cardoso says, “I bought this book for my husband at his request and he is very happy with it, it exceeded his expectations. He is using it for reference at his work as a scientific illustrator.”

A Relevant Quote

“Make it simple. Make it memorable. Make it inviting to look at. Make it fun to read.” — Leo Burnett

Infographics as a format can take care of making a piece of information memorable, inviting to look at and fun to consume. Using comparisons as a content message type, you can make it simple to take in!
