On my way to work every morning, I pass by several upscale housing societies. They look amazing, no doubt about it.

Grand houses, high walls, tight security, and perfectly manicured lawns. Everything looks flawless—modern, well-planned, and peaceful.

But something feels missing.

Let’s be honest, I am not against building quality living and upscaling your lifestyle. But the question is, at what cost?

I still remember my childhood, when we were born and raised in a small village. Our homes weren’t luxurious, but they were full of life.

Kids used to play in the courtyards, elders sat together sharing stories, they shared griefs and joys, and neighbours stopped by for casual conversations—life was real, raw, and connected.

Fast forward to today.

A friend’s father passed away recently. When I visited their home for condolences, no one, not even their neighbours didn’t know about it.

Guess how they found out? A WhatsApp group message.
