We interviewed the Chief Scientist of ContentBox Dr. Xiaohui Liu and asked him a few questions about some of the more technical aspects of the ContentBox native blockchain.

Q1) How does ContentBox support micropayments for zero fees?
A:We are currently investigating a number of public blockchains with minimal or even no transaction fees. We are talking with some of the teams and benchmarking them to decide which one best suits our high-volume micropayments. We’ll disclose more detailed results in the coming months.
Q2) Can you explain ContentBox’s consensus mechanism Proof of Network Effect?
A: Originally, we decided to launch own consensus algorithm tailored to the digital content industry, since there was no off-the-shelf solution out there working out of box for us at that time. Given recent blockchain technology evolution, that may not be applicable anymore.
Q3) How are the transactions secured? What is a Schnorr Signature?
A: Cryptographic signatures, only private key owners can initiate a transaction. Many cryptographers consider Schnorr signatures the best in the field. Compared to ECDSA used in Bitcoin, it offers a stronger level of correctness, does not suffer from malleability, is relatively fast to verify. More importantly, several signatures can be aggregated into a single, new signature.
Q4) What is the difference between on-chain and off-chain smart contracts?
A: On-chain smart contracts: every node runs the contract to verify off-chain: only involved parties run the contract and only the result is verified on chain. So much faster and private.
