October 22, 2019 — Brazil Contentos, a global decentralized, digital content community shaping the future of content distribution, has incorporated PhotoGrid, one of the most downloaded and used photo-editing applications on the market, as the first traditional social app converted to on-chain DApp with 40M monthly active users, Android and iOS combined downloads exceeding 1 billion back in 2017.

The new PhotoGrid empowered by Contentos blockchain enabled users a pioneering way to monetize their social media posts, with a DApp Jumpstart daily reward pool of $325 being distributed in Contentos’ cryptocurrency, COS tokens (20,000 COS tokens in total, and USD value is based on the market price of $0.01623 on Oct.21) and a reward pool of daily rewards of 12,270k COS shared with other DApps on Contentos blockchain for the first year of launch. The new PhotoGrid will launch in Brazil as the first country, and in the following months, will release to its global users. Contentos and PhotoGrid Brazil had launched a successful campaign with a similar mechanism to test our user acceptance back in July 2019, which has led to 5 times growth on PhotoGrid community daily active users.

During the first weekend of its launch in Brazil, PhotoGrid users have uploaded more than 2798 stories, which the growth of posting in the past 3 days has 18 times. The posts on Contentos blockchain has gained 6764 likes, which the growth of liking in the past 3 days has 26 times. On-chain users have accumulated to more than 800, and the number is increasing by 2 times of the previous day.

Users who would traditionally not be classified as influencers or receive brand endorsement deals on Instagram or Youtube were able to earn hundreds of dollars throughout the campaign on PhotoGrid. Top-earning users cashed in more than $35.5 worth of COS over the course of the first 2 days of launch and some users earned $27.6 for a photo posted.

Gessicakayne, who has 6+ million followers on Instagram, was invited as a secret experience ambassador to test posting, liking, and commenting on the new PhtoGrid has created an anonymous account in PhotoGrid, and earned $5 for a post she uploaded anonymously. She said to her followers along the official launch day on October 19th:

“Over the traditional social media platforms, only big influencers with at least thousands and hundreds of followers are able to monetize. And the only way of monetization is from sponsorship of brands. The chance for smaller content creators to monetize from their content is nearly impossible. This is innovative and revolutionary!”

She also added: “I’ll be active on the platform, but will use all the earnings from the platform to invest back and help many smaller but quality content creators in this ecosystem.”

When asked about why Brazil is the country chosen to launch Contentos empowered PhotoGrid, Mick Tsai, CEO of Contentos said: “We’ve observed the countries with top trading volumes on and Brazil appeared as #5, as we’ve already gathered tremendous exposure in Vietnam as #4 on the list. Also, our partnership with PhotoGrid, which is mostly used in Brazil, was dated back in early 2018. Through our partnership, we are seeing real users earning money for sharing photographed moments with one another is a huge step for the future. “

Brazil takes 20% of PhotoGrid usage is the first country to launch its on-chain version, the rest of the world, including US that is taking 15% of the usage, will release the new PhotoGrid in the following months. Contentos continues to empower social media influencers as entrepreneurs by incorporating peer to peer revenue distribution to give users a fair share of their earnings and trackable copyright transactions to protect users’ intellectual property.
