Taking part in an Ethereum-based token sale is quite easy — and this short preparation guide will get you started (so you can participate in the Vault Token Sale!)

Step 1: Creating an Ethereum Wallet

First things first — get a wallet! While there are many tools and apps for that out there, you will need a wallet that can receive an ERC20 standard token (which the VLT token is :) ).

You can use one of the following:

Ethereum Mist Wallet,

● Ethereum’s online wallet

MyEtherWallet

In this guide, we will use MyEtherWallet as an example.

Visit https://www.myetherwallet.com.

The first thing you see is “Create a Wallet”

Here you should enter a STRONG PASSWORD and click “Create New Wallet.”

Next you will want to save your Keystore file in case you need to access your wallet later.

Now, save your Keystore File. Click ‘Download Keystore File’ and save the file somewhere on your computer or on a thumb drive for extra security. After you have saved the file (triple-check this!), go ahead and click the Continue button.

On the next screen you will see your Private Key, it’s a string of symbols. Make sure you write down or print your Private Key in order to create a Paper Wallet. Remember, there’s no way to remind you of your password or Private Key, the technology simply doesn’t allow that! If it’s lost, it’s lost forever! So, please take all of the warnings you will see on those pages seriously.

Proceed to next screen.

As you can see, there are many ways of accessing your wallet, but for clarity’s sake let’s stick with the Private Key option. Simply paste or type in your private key, then click ‘Unlock’.

Another option is to use the keystore file you saved on your computer earlier, then enter your password and then you’ll be able to click ‘Unlock’.

Now you have your wallet set up!

If you want to access your wallet again, go to https://www.myetherwallet.com and click on ‘View Wallet Info’ in the top right corner.

Step 2: Buying Ether

Now you can use your wallet to contribute to the Vault Token Sale!

In order to use cryptocurrency to contribute, you will need to purchase Ether from a cryptocurrency exchange.

(You can also contribute to the Vault Token Sale using fiat currencies…but then you probably want the fun of using crypto, right?!

There are many exchanges out there, such as Coinbase, Kraken, Bitfinex, Bittrex, and many many more.

The easiest way to purchase ETH and receive it on the wallet you have just created is to visit MyEtherWallet again and click on the Coinbase widget you see when you log in.

Coinbase is one of the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges, and this widget allows you to easily purchase ETH and immediately send it to your wallet. The process is pretty straightforward and we won’t get into detail here. Just click on the widget and follow their instructions. You’ll be asked to fill in your name, the amount of ETH you’d like to purchase, your email address, and your phone number.

Alternatively, you may opt to purchase Ether on any cryptocurrency exchange that supports Ethereum.

Step 3: Send ETH to the Vault Token Sale

Now that you have your wallet set up and have Ether to contribute you can follow the steps outlined in our Contribution Guide.

As a reminder — go to:

www.vault-token.com

After signing up on the Token Sale Dashboard, confirming your email and logging in — you will be prompted to fill in your personal information

After submitting your details, you will be prompted to choose a Payment Method — you should choose “Ether”

You can enter the amount you choose (the minimum contribution amount in Ether is 0.1 ETH).

You will then see the following screen:

The hexadecimal string (blacked out here) next to “Personal payment address” is the address where you will send your Ether from your own wallet.

BE SURE to enter your “Ethereum Wallet” address under “Receive Your Tokens” (in read above).

As a reminder this is the public key of the wallet you just created.

Step 4: Send your Ether to the Vault Token Sale

Click on the “Copy” icon next to the “Personal payment address” string to copy this address.

With the personal payment address copied to your clipboard, open your MyEtherWallet again.

Go to “Send Ether & Tokens”

In the “To Address” field, paste your personal payment address you just copied from the Vault Token Sale Dashboard.

Enter the amount of Ether you wish to contribute.

Set the “Gas Limit” to 45 000.

Then click “Generate Transaction.”

And you’re done! Your contribution should appear after 3–4 minutes on the dashboard.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING THE VAULT TOKEN SALE!
